African Academy of Sciences (AAS) - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

The current COVID-19 pandemic is new and unique. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a drug that has been proven to treat the disease nor a vaccine to prevent the disease.

The African Academy of Sciences encourages African communities to participate in clinical trials by expounding on why it is necessary to do so to help African scientists find local solutions to local conditions. This will mean manufacturing more medicine and medical equipment thus reducing costs.
