UNICEF Africa Regional Office - Eric Njuguna at UNEA 5
From 28 February to 2 March, representatives of the 193 Member States of the United Nations, business leaders, civil society and environmentalists from around the world came together in Nairobi, Kenya, for the resumed fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) – the world’s foremost environmental decision making body. Eric Njuguna, a 19-year-old Kenyan youth advocate working for UNICEF, attended #UNEA5 and shares his experience through a video blog.
Trans.Lieu was commissioned to follow Eric’s journey and produce a special video blog (both long and short version) covering his time at #UNEA5. Eric had various meetings and chats, including a session with the United Nations' Amina J Mohammed and speaking with fellow young climate activists Elizabeth Wathuti from Kenya, Salina Abraham from Eritrea and Jean-betrand Mhandu from Zimbabwe. The climate crisis needs a voice. And these young Africans are leading the way.
