Agence Française de Développement (AFD) - A school for sports and peace

Facing banditry, livestock theft and inter-communal conflict, especially over water and land, the community in West Pokot County in northwest Kenya needed help. So when world famous marathon runner Tegla Loroupe set up a peace foundation and an academy using sport as a vehicle for peace, people could see that change was afoot.

Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Trans.Lieu was engaged by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) to produce this feature human-interest story on Tegla Loroupe, a Kenyan long-distance track and road runner, renowned as the first African woman to hold the marathon World Record and to win the New York City Marathon. The video clip is available in English and French.
